how to build a TAM model
With the team at Relevance, we built a total addressable market map of managed security providers (MSSPs) for a client. We scraped 20,256 directory listings, then an AI gate checked each company's own website and kept the 1,544 that actually run managed security for clients. We mapped 2,422 buying-committee contacts at those companies.

how it was built
- scrapeNine directories scraped in full with Python scrapers, Apify and Firecrawl: 20,256 listings.
- mergeDe-duplicated, domains resolved, geography scoped: 8,732 unique companies.
- gateAn AI rubric read each company's own site and LinkedIn: does it run managed security for clients? 1,544 passed.
- tier + peopleSurvivors split into bullseye (pure play) and good, described on a fixed vocabulary, then 2,422 contacts judged into buying committees.
